eBay Copyright Thieves & Crooks Named and Shamed
It's dishonest to copy photographs, and misleading to buyers.

mytraintrax Using Copied Sovereign Images on eBay
eBay seller mytraintrax of Markham, ON, Canada, not only stole our 1925 Pretoria South Africa Mint Sovereign Photographs without permission to sell his sovereign, but failed to state that the photos were of his actual coin, thereby deceiving all potential buyers.

High eBay Feedback is No Guarantee of Integrity or Honesty
When we wrote this page, this eBay member's feedback was 772; with 100% positive according to eBay.
It also demonstrates that high eBay feedback is no indicator of intelligence, reading ability or honesty.

What's Wrong?
We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us.
Copyright theft is dishonest. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers.
This particular eBay seller not only stole our high quality images of both sides of a mint condition 1925 sovereign, he used them in his eBay auctions to try to sell his own sovereign without saying it was not the same coin. Anyone viewing the photographs would expect them to be the same, near perfect condition coin, "airbrushed" to make them look like supermodels.
In addition, this stupid ignorant crook stated "Rare South Africa 1925 ... Sovereign" ... "I am let (sic) to believe that the 1925 Gold Sovereign is the rarest of this coin type".
He states the coin to be a 1925 South Africa Mint sovereign, yet has used our photos of a 1922 Perth Mint obverse, and a 1925 Melbourne Mint reverse, which is scarcer (mintage 278,140) than the South Africa Mint sovereigns which are the commonest with a mintage of 6,086,624
What an idiot!
Why did he not read our excellent 1925 Sovereigns page, from which he nicked our pictures?
He might have learnt something, mind you, why change the habit of a lifetime?
It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar coin, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.
The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, he is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.

Unpleasant and Ignorant to Boot
We received e-mail copies of correspondence with mytraintrax:-

  • Dear mytraintrax,
Firstly, you used an image of a Melbourne coin whilst claiming it was a South African coin, you idiot. Get a coin catalogue and learn about mintmarks.
You are indeed the biggest ignoramus of all because the image, which was processed through Photoshop by one of his staff, is copyright Lawrence Chard and that is precisely why eBay removed your listing.
I'd stick to something that you might be capable of understanding - Lego springs to mind.
    Read all about it here:
    https://goldsovereigns.co.uk/mytraintrax.html
  • Dear xxx,
Its not a Melbourne coin you ignorant fool, its English and was part of a colonial release to early 1900's English colonies, tell the owner to bring it on, he is most likely as big a wimp as you. PS. you cant (sic) own an image of a government released publicly (sic) minted or printed item, so wise up ignoramus!
  • Dear mytraintrax,
The thing about eBay is that you never know who you are dealing with.
Watch your listing disappear soon and by the way, the owner of the images will also be after you - I know him!
Now, stop being a lazy idiot - using an image of a Melbourne coin (fool) - and you might keep your account.
  • Dear xxx,
Get a life and grow up you little cry baby!!
  • Dear xxx,
That's the best you can do, heck like all poms you are spineless weak and worthless, come on get over yourself already looser! (sic) Halfwit you could not afford my product, its (sic) the reason you cry like baby, you have nothing as you are nothing, just a dirty little stain on evolution and soon to be not even that. You would think living in the new home of Sharia law and the next center (sic) of cultural decline you would have bigger issues to deal with than one little gold coin, but then again I guess for you as a trashy little hobbit that is your "precious", if you had a life little non entities (sic) like this would not bother you, but as a looser (sic) from looser-ville (sic) its never going to happen for you.
Don't forget to list me as one of your Fav's (sic) now, I would hate for you to miss out on one of my listings, I would dearly love the opportunity to rattle your cage again, but for now you bore me so this is ta-ta until next time.
You have a nice day there looser! (sic)
    - mytraintrax
  • Dear mytraintrax,
Congratulations on your illiterate rant which I note that with your rather limited intelligence took you considerable time to compose.
As a special favour, I have decided to correct some of your worst errors.
looser should be loser and that sums you up.
    its should be it's
    non entities should be nonentities
Keep watching https://goldsovereigns.co.uk/mytraintrax.html as you will see updating for your further lunatic rants and don't forget to buy yourself a dictionary.
    Loser! (correct spelling)
    ta ta for now.

Stick to Toy Cars!
Our quick suggestion to mytraintrax is stick to toy cars.
The last comments from mytraintrax are possibly racist, and certainly offensive.

Fraudulent
The listing appears to have been purged from the eBay system, and it does not show the usual "removed" message. We think it may have been removed under suspicion of being fraudulent.

eBay Guilty of Negligence or Complicity
We will be reporting this example of copyright abuse using our standard Statutory Declaration via the eBay VeRO programme, and wait to see if they chose to action or ignore our report. We look forward to taking legal action against eBay for their negligence and / or complicity if they fail to take down the offending material promptly.

Selling Gold Sovereigns & Other Coins on eBay
We point out that sellers may often get more money, for less effort, by selling to a specialised dealer, such as us, rather than via eBay.
