1874 Gold Sovereign Victoria Young Head Shield
1874 shield sovereigns were issued by the London, and Melbourne Mints only. The London issue is quite rare, R4 according to Marsh, so the Melbourne issue is the only common mintmark for this date of shield sovereign. St. George and dragon reverse types exist for all three mints.
