1855 Australian Gold Sovereign Victoria Young Head
Australia has issued gold coins since 1852, when South Adelaide issued a gold pound coin. Following this, the Sydney Mint issued Australian sovereigns from 1855 to 1870, and half sovereigns from 1855 to 1866.
The 1855 Sydney Mint Australia Sovereigns are extremely rare, despite the relatively high mintage.
There are also British sovereigns for 1855, minted in London at the original Royal Mint.
